The Nelson Municipal Library offers a 3-year membership to all property owners and residents within the City of Nelson, with the cost being covered by local property tax.  All memberships require an official document with proof of residence (driver's license, phone bill, assessment notice or rent receipt) and a picture ID for registration.  

Although most residents in British Columbia pay for library service as part of the local property tax, people living in the Regional District Areas E, F and H do not pay library taxes and therefore, must pay individually for a membership.
